High Level Overview:

We currently have a permanent Demurrage Specialist position available within Shipping.

We are looking for individuals who are highly motivated with sound business acumen and problem-solving skills, natural team players, eager to learn and grow, and have an eye for innovation and continuous process and personal improvement.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Terminal Demurrage: Issues, negotiates settlement of and recovers contractual receivable demurrage claims always within time bar deadlines. Analyses and negotiates contractual payable demurrage claims

  • Charter Party Demurrage: Receives, analyses and settles charter party demurrage claims

  • Issues, negotiates, analyses and settles barge demurrage claims

  • Co-operates closely with all other departments, including trading, shipping, legal & finance teams.

  • Capable of reviewing & giving advice on draft Laytime & Demurrage clauses for contracts, tenders & general terms & conditions on request from trading or contracts. Good advice is essential to reduce the company’s exposure at source within contract terms

  • Accurately and thoroughly maintains Excel tracking database of all payable and receivable claims. This is the ‘master’ document and accuracy is essential as this data is used to support trading P&L.

  • Minimize demurrage exposure to Chevron and meeting Team performance metrics.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Extensive and proven experience of both C/P & contract demurrage 

  • Understanding of oil contracts, products, grades, qualities, geopolitical and environmental influence on commodity markets

  • Ability to analyse data with a very high level of attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to effectively communicate through both written correspondence and verbal communication

  • Proficient with MS Office and operational systems/software Other Requirements

  •  Pro-active approach. Ability to defend claims/disputes firmly when required, balanced with a commercial approach

  • Be able to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner

  • Multi-tasking and highly organized

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Time management and prioritization skills

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Digital mindset and innovative thinker with a proven ability to use technology.

Relocation Options:

Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters.

International Considerations:

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
