Process Control Engineer

Responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:
• Tuning of control loops, support of Honeywell or Yokogawa distributed control systems (DCS), and assistance in training console operators.
• Serve as a specialist in designing, implementing, and maintaining multivariable control applications (DMCPlus) and the applications that support the multivariable control applications (inferred properties, et al).
• Implement and maintain multivariable process control applications that are consistent with short-term and long-term refinery operating plans.
• Provide daily process control support for console operators.
• Identify and resolve control performance issues by coordinating with colleagues in other areas of specialization (instrumentation, analyzers, process, mechanical equipment, etc.)
• Identify and capture opportunities for improving the safety, reliability, operability, and profitability of the operating area through process control improvements.
• Train refinery personnel on the effective use of process control applications and systems.
• Act as a mentor/resource for refinery process and control engineers. Influences and improves work processes for a global refining technical system.
• Demonstrate knowledge of operating area interactions with the rest of the refinery and helps troubleshoot process problems in the operating area and refinery.
• Maintain and grow process control skills by attending onsite and offsite training.
• Domestic travel of up to 10% may be required.
Required qualifications:
• B.S. Chemical Engineering or applicable work experience (minimum of 5 years) in refinery operations, refinery process control and/or refinery process engineering.
• Knowledge of process control fundamentals, including design, configuration, support and programming of Honeywell and/or Yokogawa distributed control systems (DCS).
• Strong technical/analytical skills, with proven record of innovative problem solving and proactivesystem improvement.
• Strong oral, written, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate at all levels.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a variety of assignments for individual team members andgroups, and to set and manage priorities.
Preferred qualifications:
• Technical Skill - Possess strong understanding of, and experience with, advanced process control techniques, tools and methods
• Experience with Honeywell and/or Yokogawa DCS.
• Experience with control loop tuning, DCS support and training of operators.
• Multivariable control applications (DMCPlus), supporting applications (inferrentials, etc.) and knowledge of their impact on refinery operating plans.
• Strong, fundamental understanding of refinery or hydrocarbon processing and equipment.
• Familiarity with instruments, analyzers, etc. and their use in support of refinery processes.
• Experience working with facility operations personnel, particularly console operators.
• General awareness of common network architectures used in PCN environments, including the Purdue Model.
• Ability to create and promote an environment of trust, teamwork and inclusiveness throughactions and behaviors.
• Demonstrated ability to build team consensus and to work effectively and collaboratively in a multi-discipline, multi-function, and multi-cultural environment.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of, and focus on, personal and process safety.
Relocation may be considered.
Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
