This position reports to the Deputy Fire Chief and supervises between four and seven Chevron O&M fire department employees. Acts as Incident Commander during incidents including fire, medical aid, hazardous material, rescue, security, oil spill, and other emergencies. Supports and passionately engages the philosophy that together we will do the job safely or not at all. Works closely with all levels of employees throughout the refinery including management, operations, maintenance, technical, and others.
Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Advises all Chevron Fire Department personnel and volunteer fire brigade members during all fire, medical, Haz-Mat, and security emergencies.
- Responsible for setting up the Incident Command System during all incidents and functions as refinery management in charge until relieved.
- Implements Unified Command for incidents involving Federal, State, Local, and Chevron authorities to assure that Emergency Action Plans and Area Contingency Plans are implemented as quickly as possible.
- Acts as liaison between Chevron and all other municipal and/or mutual aid agencies.
- Works directly with the City of Richmond Fire and Police departments during emergency crisis situations.
- Responds outside of the refinery to medical, fire, has-mat, and other emergencies as requested by mutual aid partners.
- Will fulfill the roll of 2-in/2-out if necessary, which requires the mandatory attendance and participation of all crew training actives.
- This is a Safety Sensitive position.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership in an emergency response organization.
- Incident Management System I-100, I-200, I-300 certification.
- Current Emergency Medical Technician certification.
- Current California Class C Firefighter and/or Commercial Class A or B Firefighters driver’s license
- Firefighter I certification (or equivalent).
- HAZWOPER level 3 - Haz-Mat Technician certification (or equivalent).
- Rescue Systems level 1 certification (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the industrial fire department.
- Must possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or be able to acquire one within the first 6 months of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates and or Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Response/Management or a related subject area.
Relocation Options:
Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters.
